This festive season, homes across India light diyas and welcome Maa Lakshmi and Ganesh Ji together. Here is why they are always side by side and how to choose a pair for your home or as a gift.
Why Lakshmi and Ganesh are worshipped together
Ganesh Ji is worshipped first in every puja. He is Vighnaharta, the one who clears obstacles and every new beginning starts with him.
Maa Lakshmi brings abundance, good fortune and wellbeing. On Diwali she is welcomed into clean, well-lit homes.
Together they mean something simple: may the path be clear and may what lies on it be abundant. Wisdom to receive prosperity and prosperity that lasts.
Placing them at home
Traditions vary by family and region, so follow what your elders do. A few things most homes share:
- Keep them in a clean, raised place of prayer, never directly on the floor
- Many families prefer a spot facing east or north
- Place them side by side, with diyas and fresh flowers in front for the Diwali puja
- After Diwali, keep them at home or office so the blessing stays all year
Gifting a Lakshmi Ganesh pair
A Lakshmi Ganesh pair is one of the most meaningful Diwali gifts you can give. It suits parents and in-laws, a family moving into a new home, newlyweds celebrating their first Diwali, and clients or teams you want to thank for the year.
