Purple is the colour of royalty and in jewellery, Amethyst, a beautifully ‘violet’ variety of quartz is "royalty"! . Amethyst is the most valuable quartz gemstone. Vogue says “This lavender (but still futuristic) hue might give millennial pink a run for its money and we're here for it” *.  

Amethyst is a semiprecious gemstone often used in jewellery and is the traditional birthstone for February.

The Greeks believed Amethyst could prevent intoxication, while medieval European soldiers wore Amethyst amulets as protection in battle, believing that Amethysts heal people and also keeps them cool-headed! Tibetans consider Amethyst sacred to the Buddha and make prayer beads from it. In the Old World, Amethyst was considered one of the ‘Cardinal Gems’ - that it was one of the five gemstones considered precious above all others, until large deposits were found in Brazil !**
